I have been driving past this abandoned building for nearly five years. The property has been for sale for at least that long. In that time, I have stopped several times to make an image, but I was never enthusiastic about the results. Last fall, on my final trip to New Hampshire for the season I tried again.
This time around I decided to post-process the image with On1 Raw 2018. I have been using the software in conjunction with Lightroom and also for reviewing my student's images in my current photography workshop. But this time, there would be no Lightroom to fall back on.
The black-and-white conversion was very straightforward allowing me to lighten and darken colors. Dodging and burning was a snap. And while the printing is not as intuitive as Lightroom, it worked just fine.
I have also decided to get more proficient with my Wacom Tablet and have been using it for all of my mouse operations. While this does slow me down in my post-processing, masking is easier as I have more control.
The software is worth trying. There is a 30-day trial period where you get the full software release without having to spend any money. If you like it, you can buy it. If you don't, you can shuffle on down the road.
Until next time...
