Last weekend Elaine and I went to a dance at the campground where we were staying. Once I saw the setup, I went back to our quarters, grabbed my D700 and a 70-200 f2.8 lens, and headed back to the function. I asked the band's leader if I could photograph the band and he readily agreed. Thank you, once again, Dave.
This is a New England band playing Classic Rock. They have great repertoire. A fun band to dance or just listen to. If you get a chance to hear them, it is well worth the effort to see them in person. I have heard a rumor that they will be making a return engagement at The Bluffs this season. It is an opportunity that I plan to enjoy.
For you folks who have looked at my portfolio, you will notice that this is not the type of photography that I normally do. But, you must step outside your comfort zone every once in a while. Stagnation in photography, or in any endeavor for that matter, is never a good thing.
I shot the entire evening with no flash and with my camera set to ISO 6400. I used Nik Software's Dfine to eliminate some of the noise, knowing that I would be converting the photos to chromatic grayscale, using Nik's Silver Efex Pro 2.
Again, thank you Reunion for a great evening.
Until next time...
